Meet the Majestic Buff Laced Polish Chicken: Rare, Stylish, and Proud

Buff Laced Polish chickens are a very rare species of crested chicken. They are a European breed well known for their distinctive crests, otherwise known as “top hats.” An older breed they are thought to have originated in the Netherlands, going all the way back to the 14th century.

Known to be a docile breed, they are quite gentle but can be easily startled as their large crests limit their vision, making them easily startled.

Polish chickens have rich, golden buffed feathers, neatly layered in creamy white with dainty slate blue shanks and toes.

Their crests of flowing feathers, coupled with a sprightly carriage make them one of the most prized breeds of all chickens.

This species comes in two varieties: bearded and non-bearded. When ordering from a breeder buyers usually get both.

Hens are productive egg layers and rarely go broody, producing clean white eggs.

Baby chicks are a creamy buff color with a dark tan mark over each eye.
